History trail Ølgod Byskov: Length 5.60 km (Blue route)
The route starts at the Ølgod halls (Skolegade 17, 6870 Ølgod)

You will now go out on an approx. 6 km long tour with 13 stops, with stories about the forest's creation from heath over plantation to the lovely forest we see today. Here you can read about the history of Ølgod Byskov, about the people who created the area, about nature, burial mounds and the forest's activities. Ølgod Plantage was started in 1882 as a limited company plantation, mainly planted with mountain pine. The purpose was, among other things, to provide shelter for the new station town and ensure that a possible wildfire should not transform inland dunes into active water dunes with sand drift as a result. Gradually, the forest also provided fuel and timber. In the past 140 years, the plantation has developed into an extremely varied forest with approx. 25 different tree species - there is almost nothing left of mountain pine.
